FLX Rewards is the free loyalty program from Foot Locker, and it works across Foot Locker, Kids Foot Locker and Champs Sports. Members earn 100 points for every $1 spent in stores or online and redeem them for FLX Cash at 15,000 points for $5, which makes 3,000 points worth $1. All members get free standard shipping and free online returns with no minimum. Spending moves members through three tiers, X1, X2 and X3, which add bigger birthday gifts and a yearly bonus. Points can also buy Xtra Boosts, which improve your chances in limited sneaker releases.

Last checked on 23 October 2026 against Foot Locker's FLX Rewards page, the FLX Rewards Program Terms and Conditions (last updated January 2026) and the FLX articles in Foot Locker's help center.

How to join FLX Rewards

Join for free on footlocker.com, kidsfootlocker.com or champssports.com, or in a Foot Locker, Kids Foot Locker or Champs Sports store. You need to be 13 or older, live in the US or its territories, and have a valid email address and a mobile number with a +1 code, which you may need to verify. Each person, and each phone number, can have one account, with no more than two accounts per mailing address.

One membership covers all three stores, so points and status follow you between Foot Locker, Kids Foot Locker and Champs Sports. US members also earn and redeem in those brands' Canadian stores and on footlocker.ca and champssports.ca.

How you earn FLX points

Members earn 100 points for every $1 spent, in stores or online, at every tier. In store, show your FLX Rewards ID in the app or give your email address or mobile number; online, sign in before you check out.

Points are calculated on what you pay after discounts and rewards, so the part of an order covered by FLX Cash doesn't earn. Gift card purchases don't earn, but paying with a gift card does. Returning an item takes its points back, and if you've already spent them, your balance can go negative until your next purchase.

Members can also earn points for activities in the FLX Dashboard, such as answering surveys, sharing shopping preferences, watching videos and visiting social pages. Those points are capped at 1,250 a month and don't count toward your tier.

Points usually appear within about three business days of an in-store purchase or of an online order shipping, but can take up to 30 days. If points are missing, contact Foot Locker within 30 days of the purchase. Purchase points are capped at 40,000 a month, which is $400 of spending.

What FLX points are worth

Points turn into FLX Cash at three fixed levels:

PointsFLX CashSpending needed at 100 points per $1
15,000$5$150
30,000$10$300
60,000$20$600

Every level works out the same: 3,000 points for $1, so each point is worth one thirtieth of a cent. At 100 points per $1, that's 3.33% back, whichever level you choose and whatever your tier. The big earning number is a matter of presentation: 100 points per $1 at 3,000 points per $1 is the same return as 1 point per $1 at 30 points per $1.

The 1,250-point monthly cap on activities is worth about 42 cents of FLX Cash, or about $5 a year at most.

How to use FLX Cash

Redeem points for FLX Cash in the FLX Dashboard, or from your cart online when it shows you have enough points. The FLX Cash goes into your Rewards wallet, and you apply it at checkout online or ask a store team member to apply it in store.

The rules:

  • One FLX Cash reward per order, and $20 at most. FLX Cash rewards can't be combined.
  • Your subtotal must be more than the reward. A $20 reward needs an order of at least $20.01 before tax and fees, and any unused balance is lost.
  • Up to one other offer can be used with it, such as a military or student discount.
  • It works on items marked "excluded from discount", according to Foot Locker's help center.
  • It can't be used on shipping, taxes, fees, gift cards, online reservations or ship-to-me entries for sneaker releases, or orders placed by a Foot Locker team member.
  • You can redeem up to 120,000 points a month, which is $40 of FLX Cash.

Redeemed FLX Cash expires 70 days after you redeem it. Gifted FLX Cash, such as birthday and Bonus Day rewards, expires 30 days after you receive or claim it. Foot Locker won't convert points to FLX Cash automatically, so you can leave them as points until you're ready to shop.

Xtra Boosts and sneaker releases

Entering limited sneaker releases in the Foot Locker app is only open to FLX Rewards members. After entering, you can redeem points for Xtra Boosts, which improve your chances of securing the release. There's no limit on how many you can add.

Foot Locker says it picks successful entries with a weighted algorithm based on the number of entries, customer loyalty, how long you've been a member, your FLX tier and the Xtra Boosts applied. Boosts don't guarantee a pair, and the points aren't refunded if you miss out. Each account can secure one pair per release. Points can also be used to enter sweepstakes and some member-only events.

Do FLX points expire?

Yes. Since 28 January 2026, points expire 12 months after they're earned, on the last day of that month. Foot Locker's example: points earned on 10 February 2026 expire on 28 February 2027. Earning or redeeming more points doesn't extend the date, and your oldest points are always used first.

Points earned before 28 January 2026 follow the old rule: they expire at the end of the month 12 months after your last earn or redemption activity. Foot Locker emails members 30 to 60 days before their points expire, and you can see each batch's expiry date in your FLX Dashboard history.

What expiry means in practice

Because each batch of points has its own deadline, how often you shop matters more than how much.

A customer who buys one $120 pair a year earns 12,000 points, short of the 15,000 needed for $5 of FLX Cash. They can only redeem if their next purchase comes within 12 months, before the first batch expires.

A customer who spends $150 or more within 12 months reaches the first $5 reward before any of those points expire. Redeeming turns them into FLX Cash, which then lasts another 70 days.

Under the old rule, any activity reset the clock for the whole balance, so a regular shopper never lost points. Under the new one, even active members' points expire 12 months after they were earned.

Tiers are based on dollars spent, not points, during the FLX program year, which runs from 1 February to 31 January. Taxes, gift cards and fees don't count, and neither do points from activities. Once you reach a tier, you keep it for the rest of that program year and all of the next.

Higher tiers don't earn faster. What they add is gifts: a Level-Up gift for reaching X2, a $10 birthday reward instead of $5, and at X3 a $10 Bonus Day reward you can claim on any day you choose once a year. Your tier is also one of the factors in sneaker release selection.

What the tiers are worth

An X3 member who spends $500 in a program year earns 50,000 points, enough for $15 of FLX Cash ($10 plus $5) with 5,000 points left over. Add the $10 birthday gift and the $10 Bonus Day, and that's about $35, or 7% back, before free shipping and returns. The gifts are worth more than the points.

An X1 member who spends $150 gets $5 of FLX Cash and a $5 birthday gift, about 6.7% back.

So a large share of what the program pays comes from gifts rather than points.

FLX Rewards birthday gift

Add your birth month to your profile to get a birthday reward: $5 of FLX Cash at X1, or $10 at X2 and X3. The reward appears in your FLX Dashboard a month before your birth month and has to be claimed by the end of your birth month. If you're opted in to emails, Foot Locker emails you on the 1st of the month before. Once claimed, it expires after 30 days. Members who join during their birth month can only claim it that month.

The fine print

  • Points expire 12 months after they're earned, and activity doesn't extend them.
  • Purchase points are capped at 40,000 a month and activity points at 1,250 a month.
  • One FLX Cash reward per order, up to $20, and the order subtotal must be higher than the reward.
  • Returns take back points, and a balance can go negative.
  • Accounts can be closed after two years with no activity, or after 365 days with a zero or negative balance.
  • Foot Locker monitors free returns and can limit them or close accounts it finds abusing the program.
  • Foot Locker can change or end the program, and says it may give 60 days' notice of material changes.

What stands out about FLX Rewards

Points buy access, not just discounts. Xtra Boosts let members spend points on a better chance at a limited sneaker release. For a store where launches drive demand, that gives points a use that's worth more to some members than a $5 voucher.

Status is spend-only. Points from surveys, videos and social visits are spendable, but they never move anyone up a tier. Foot Locker can pay for engagement without its tiers filling up with members who haven't spent.

The membership perks are practical. Free standard shipping and free online returns with no minimum, for every member from day one, are benefits a sneaker buyer feels on every order.

The tiers pay in gifts, not rates. Every tier earns 100 points per $1. Climbing adds a bigger birthday reward, a Level-Up gift and an annual Bonus Day, so for an X3 member the gifts are worth more than the points.

What members should know going in:

  • 100 points per $1 is 3.33% back. It takes $150 of spending to reach the first $5 of FLX Cash.
  • Points expire 12 months after they're earned, no matter what. Occasional shoppers can lose points before reaching 15,000.
  • FLX Cash is capped at $20 per order and one reward at a time.
  • Xtra Boosts aren't refunded. If you don't secure the release, the points are gone.

Is FLX Rewards worth joining?

Yes, if you buy anything from Foot Locker, Kids Foot Locker or Champs Sports. It's free, and free standard shipping and free online returns with no minimum are worth having on their own. If you enter sneaker releases, you need to be a member anyway.

As a points program, it's modest: 3.33% back, in $5, $10 or $20 steps, with points that expire 12 months after you earn them. The best value comes from claiming the birthday reward every year and, if you spend $500 in a program year, the X3 Bonus Day. If you shop only once a year, plan to redeem as soon as you reach 15,000 points.

What Shopify brands can learn from FLX Rewards

Foot Locker's program is built for a category where launches drive demand, and four ideas carry over to Shopify brands:

  1. Let points buy access. If you sell limited drops, early access or a better shot at a launch can be worth more to your best customers than a discount, and it doesn't come straight off your margin.
  2. Base tiers on spend, and keep engagement points out of status. You can reward reviews, surveys and social follows generously without promoting customers who haven't bought.
  3. Make membership perks practical. Free shipping and returns for members is easy to understand and felt on every order. On Shopify, it can be tied to a member or tier at checkout.
  4. Think about who expiry hits. Fixed 12-month expiry keeps the points liability small, but it also takes points from active customers. If you use it, send a reminder before points expire.

If you're building a Shopify loyalty program like this, Mage covers most of it. VIP tiers can be based on amount spent, so points from reviews, social follows and other activities never move anyone up a tier, and higher tiers can get early access to launches, sales and limited drops. Every member is tagged in Shopify with their tier, which you can use for free shipping and member-only discounts at checkout. Rewards can be fixed amounts off with a minimum purchase and apply at Shopify checkout with no code to copy. Points expiry is off by default, or points can expire a set number of days after they're earned, with a reminder before they go. Mage runs inside Shopify POS, so in-store purchases earn and redeem against the same balance. For a step-by-step setup, see how to set up a loyalty program like Foot Locker FLX.
