No, you need different settings. Every vertical has its own purchase cycle, average order value, and reason to come back, but those differences live in the earning rules, reward catalogue, and tier thresholds rather than in the software. Mage is one platform you configure around how your customers actually buy.
Mostly the earning cadence and what points buy. A fashion brand runs on seasonal drops, so it leans on collection multipliers, early access for higher tiers, and bonus points for photo reviews that feed back into product pages. A food brand runs on replenishment, so it uses low redemption thresholds that pay out within a few orders, subscription upgrade rewards, and bonus points on bundles. Same points engine, different thresholds and rewards.
Yes. Points can be awarded at different rates by product or collection, so a full-price collection can earn more than a clearance one, and you can run time-limited multiplier campaigns on top. You can also award points for non-purchase actions such as reviews, referrals, and account signup.
It works, but the tier structure carries more weight than the points balance. When someone buys twice a year, a points balance accrues too slowly to pull them back on its own. Spend-based VIP tiers give the program a longer arc, and the rewards need to match the price point: early access, anniversary rewards, free shipping, and store credit land better than a small percentage discount on a high-ticket item.
Yes. Purchases through Shopify POS earn and redeem against the same customer balance as online orders. For sales through stockists or channels outside Shopify, receipt scanning lets customers submit a photo of the receipt to claim points, with fraud checks on submissions.
Most merchants have a program live in a day. Earning rules, tiers, and reward values are set from the dashboard with no theme code, and the customer-facing pages are styled to your brand in the same place. Migrating existing point balances from another app takes longer because balances have to be exported, mapped, and imported before launch.
