How the Punch Card Template Generator works

  1. Step 1. Add your business name and rewardSay plainly what the customer gets, for example collect 10 stamps and the next coffee is free.
  2. Step 2. Pick your stamp countSix to twelve. Fewer stamps means faster reward and higher completion, more stamps means more visits per reward.
  3. Step 3. Set your coloursChoose a background, accent and text colour to match your branding, and leave the logo area marked for your own artwork.
  4. Step 4. Print or downloadPrint straight away, or save as PNG for a print shop and SVG if a designer needs to edit it.

Frequently asked questions

A punch card, sometimes called a stamp card or loyalty card, is a small card a customer carries and gets marked on each purchase. Once it is full they claim a reward. It is the simplest loyalty program there is, needs no software, and works well for cafes, salons, barbers and market stalls.

Between six and twelve for most businesses. Fewer stamps means customers reach the reward sooner, which lifts completion rates but costs more per reward. More stamps extracts more visits but raises the risk that people give up. Ten is the common default because it makes the maths obvious to the customer.

Standard business card size, 3.5 by 2 inches, which is 85 by 55mm. That fits a wallet, and any print shop can produce it as a stock size. This generator draws at exactly that size at 300 DPI, so it prints without resampling.

The generator leaves a clearly marked area for your logo rather than uploading one, since we do not host customer artwork. Download the SVG and any design tool, including free ones, will let you drop your logo into that space. If you are printing through a print shop, they will usually place it for you.

Card stock of roughly 300gsm or 110lb. Anything thinner will not survive a wallet, and a stamp or hole punch tears it. Matte finishes take pen and ink stamps well; gloss looks better but resists ink, so choose matte if staff will be writing or stamping rather than punching.

A hole punch is harder to forge and needs no ink, but it weakens the card edge. A custom rubber stamp looks more professional and is harder to copy if the design is distinctive. Whichever you pick, use one tool that lives behind the counter rather than a pen, since a pen tick is trivial to fake.

Use a distinctive stamp or a shaped punch kept behind the counter, and stamp across a printed circle rather than in blank space. Number your cards if the reward is valuable. In practice most fraud is not worth designing around, and the friction of over-policing costs more in goodwill than the occasional fake stamp costs in margin.

For a physical location with quick repeat visits, yes. They cost almost nothing, need no app and no signup, and customers understand them instantly. The limitations are real though: you learn nothing about who your customers are, you cannot contact them, and a lost card is a lost relationship.

A punch card tracks visits anonymously on paper. A digital program ties rewards to a customer record, so you can see purchase history, segment by spend, send a reminder when someone lapses, and let points be earned online and in store. The punch card wins on simplicity; digital wins on everything you can do afterwards.

Not directly, since there is nobody at a counter to stamp it. The online equivalent is a points program where each order earns points automatically towards a reward. If you sell both online and in person, a digital program that covers both is usually simpler than running paper cards alongside it.

Run both briefly. Honour existing paper cards while offering the digital version at the counter, and give a small bonus for joining so there is a reason to switch. Most stores find the transition takes a few weeks, and the gain is knowing who their repeat customers actually are.

Yes. No signup, no email, no watermark, and the card is generated in your browser rather than on a server. It is built by Mage Loyalty, a loyalty, referrals and store credit app for Shopify.
