Beauty Insider is Sephora's free loyalty program for customers in the US and Canada. Members earn 1 point for every $1 spent on merchandise, and every tier earns at exactly the same rate. Points are worth 2 cents each as Beauty Insider Cash (500 points for $10 off), and 4 cents each for Rouge members, who can trade 2,500 points for a $100 reward. Spending $350 in a calendar year earns VIB status and $1,000 earns Rouge, which unlock better rewards rather than faster earning. Points expire only if you go 12 months without a purchase or redemption.
Last checked against Sephora's Rewards Bazaar page as of 18 June 2026, its Beauty Insider FAQ as of 13 January 2026 and its Beauty Insider terms and conditions as of 9 October 2025. The FAQ and the terms were both last updated on 28 August 2025.

How to join Beauty Insider
Joining is free, and Sephora's terms say no purchase is necessary. You can apply on sephora.com or at a Sephora at Kohl's store. You need to be a legal resident of the US or Canada and at least 16, or 18 if you live in Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Maryland or New Jersey. Each person can have one account.
Every new member starts at the Insider level. To earn points, give Sephora your registered email address, phone number or digital Beauty Insider card when you buy.
How you earn Beauty Insider points
Members earn 1 point for every $1 spent on merchandise, in the same way at every tier. Points count on:
- Sephora.com and Sephora stores
- Sephora at Kohl's stores in the US, and Sephora merchandise on kohls.com
- Sephora merchandise ordered through Instacart, DoorDash or Uber Eats, if your Beauty Insider account is linked
- Paid in-store services, such as Brow Bar and Dry Bar
Gift cards, e-gift cards, tickets to Sephora events, taxes and shipping don't earn points. Returning an item takes back the points it earned, including any bonus points, and a returned item can leave your balance negative.
Sephora also runs bonus point events from time to time, each with its own terms, and Beauty Insider Challenges: on 18 June 2026 the Rewards Bazaar page promoted a "mystery tasks" challenge worth up to 500 points.
What Beauty Insider points are worth
Points can be used for Beauty Insider Cash, a discount at checkout, or for Rewards Bazaar items.
| Reward | Points | Value | Cents per point | Who can use it |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Beauty Insider Cash | 500 | $10 off | 2 | Every member |
| Rouge Cash | 1,000 | $20 off | 2 | Rouge only |
| Rouge Reward | 2,500 | $100 off | 4 | Rouge only |
At 1 point per $1, Beauty Insider Cash is 2% back: $500 of spending earns a $10 discount. The Rouge Reward is 4% back, and it needs $2,500 of spending. Its value per point is double, which gives Rouge members a reason to save instead of spending $10 at a time.
A Rouge member who spends exactly the $1,000 minimum each year takes about two and a half years to save up 2,500 points. That works because points only expire after 12 months without a purchase or redemption.
Rewards Bazaar items don't have a published cash value, so there's no way to give them a price per point without guessing.
How to redeem Beauty Insider Cash
- Use it at checkout online or in a Sephora store. You can use one Beauty Insider Cash reward per transaction.
- The order subtotal, after other discounts, has to be at least the amount of the reward. A $10 reward needs an order of $10 or more.
- It can't be used on gift cards, taxes, shipping or gift wrapping.
- It can be combined with credit card rewards (but not the percent-off first purchase offer), the Rouge Reward, and some sample and promotional offers where Sephora specifies. It is applied last, after other discounts.
- If you return something bought with it, you're refunded the price you paid after the discount. The points and the discount aren't given back.
The Rewards Bazaar
The Rewards Bazaar is where Sephora lists rewards you can buy with points, priced from 50 up to 100,000 points. They're typically deluxe samples, product bundles or experiences. On 18 June 2026, the Bazaar's featured rewards were hair-care sets at 750, 1,500, 2,000 and 2,500 points, and a hair consultation with a celebrity stylist at 5,000.
How it works:
- New rewards drop twice a week. The Bazaar page says to check back every Tuesday and Thursday at 9am PT.
- Supplies are limited. Rewards are first come, first served and available for a limited time.
- Small rewards need an order. Rewards under 750 points need a $25 merchandise purchase if you redeem online, and no purchase if you redeem in store.
- Larger rewards don't. Rewards of 750 points or more need no purchase online and ship free.
- There are limits. You can redeem one of each reward per transaction and no more than 10 of any one reward a year. Rewards can't be returned.
VIB and Rouge members also get access to exclusive rewards, such as full-size products.
Beauty Insider tiers: Insider, VIB and Rouge
| Insider | VIB | Rouge | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Spend per calendar year | Free | $350 | $1,000 |
| Points per $1 | 1 | 1 | 1 |
| Free standard shipping | Yes | Yes | Yes |
| Beauty Insider Cash | $10 for 500 points | $10 for 500 points | $10 for 500 points, or $20 for 1,000 |
| Exclusive Rewards Bazaar items | Not listed | Yes | Yes |
| Rouge Reward ($100 for 2,500 points) | No | No | Yes |
| Birthday gift | Yes | Yes, options vary by tier | Yes, options vary by tier |
VIB or Rouge status lasts for the calendar year in which you qualify and the whole of the next one. After that you need to requalify, and if you don't, you drop to the tier your spending does qualify for. Spending counts if it's on fulfilled orders of merchandise, including through Sephora at Kohl's and the delivery apps.
Because every tier earns at the same rate, tiers don't change how quickly you collect points. What changes is what you can spend them on.
The Rouge Reward
The Rouge Reward is $100 off in exchange for 2,500 points, available to Rouge members while supplies last. It comes with some strings attached:
- It expires 90 days after the confirmation email, and the points aren't refunded if you don't use it.
- You use all $100 in one transaction. On a smaller purchase, the remaining value is lost.
- It can't be used on Buy Online, Pick Up In Store or Same Day Delivery orders, or at Sephora at Kohl's.
- It can't be combined with promotional discounts, but it can be combined with Beauty Insider Cash.
- Items bought with it can't be returned in stores, and a mailed return refunds what you paid but forfeits the reward.
Beauty Insider birthday gift
Every member can redeem one birthday gift a year during their birthday month. The options depend on your location and tier. In a Sephora store, give your registered email address and no purchase is needed. Online, you need to spend at least $25 on merchandise. Birthday gifts can't be redeemed through Instacart, DoorDash or Uber Eats.
The Sephora Credit Card
Cardmembers earn 8% back at Sephora, which Sephora describes as 4% in Credit Card Rewards plus 4% in Beauty Insider Cash, equal to 2 points per $1. New cardmembers get 25% off their first purchase if they open the card and use it at Sephora within 30 days. The card has its own agreement, separate from the Beauty Insider terms.
Do Beauty Insider points expire?
Yes, but only if you stop engaging. All your unredeemed points expire if there has been no point activity, meaning a purchase or a redemption, for 12 months. Any purchase or redemption restarts the clock for your whole balance. Points also expire if your membership is cancelled or revoked.
The fine print
- Points expire after 12 months with no purchase or redemption.
- Beauty Insider Cash can be used once per transaction, and isn't refunded when you return an item.
- The Rouge Reward expires after 90 days, is used in full or lost, and is forfeited if you return what you bought with it.
- Rewards Bazaar rewards are limited, first come first served, and can't be returned.
- Points earned through Instacart, DoorDash and Uber Eats need a linked account, and Rewards and birthday gifts can't be redeemed there.
- Sephora can change or end the program, its tiers and its rewards at any time.
What stands out about Beauty Insider
Every tier earns at the same rate. Insider, VIB and Rouge all get 1 point per $1. Status doesn't make you earn faster. It opens up rewards that lower tiers can't redeem, so the extra value is only paid out when members qualify and redeem.
The top reward is worth double per point. Beauty Insider Cash pays 2 cents a point and the Rouge Reward pays 4. That gives the highest tier a reason to save.
The catalogue is product, not discounts. The Rewards Bazaar lists samples, sets and experiences, with new drops on Tuesdays and Thursdays and limited supply. Members have a reason to check their balance and to come back on a schedule.
Points last as long as you shop. One purchase or redemption a year keeps a whole balance alive, so active members never lose points.
What members should know going in:
- The base rate is low. Beauty Insider Cash is 2% back, less than the 3.33% of Foot Locker's FLX Rewards or the 3% to 6.25% Members get from Ulta Beauty Rewards. The better value is in the Rouge Reward, the Rewards Bazaar and the credit card.
- Rewards Bazaar items change. What's available this month may be gone next month, and supplies run out.
- The Rouge Reward is all or nothing. $100 in one go, within 90 days.
- Delivery apps earn points but can't redeem them.
Is Beauty Insider worth joining?
Yes, if you buy beauty products from Sephora even occasionally. It's free, every qualifying online order gets free standard shipping, and you get a birthday gift each year. Points are worth a modest 2 cents each, but you don't lose them as long as you buy or redeem at least once a year.
The program rewards loyalty more at the top. At $1,000 a year you reach Rouge, and a few years of saving buys the $100 Rouge Reward, which is double the value per point. If you're a regular, the Rewards Bazaar and the credit card improve the return further.
What Shopify brands can learn from Beauty Insider
Beauty Insider is built for repeat purchases of products customers use up, and four ideas carry over to Shopify brands:
- Keep the earn rate flat and put the value of status into what members can redeem. If the top tier earns faster, you pay more on every order. If it unlocks better rewards, you pay only when they redeem.
- Make one reward worth much more per point. Pricing the top reward at double the value per point gives your best customers something to save for.
- Use product as currency. Samples, minis and sets are the cheapest rewards to give and put your range in customers' hands. A fresh drop on a fixed day gives members a reason to check in.
- Expire points on inactivity. If any purchase restarts the clock, active customers never lose points and only customers who've left see an expiry.
If you're building a Shopify loyalty program like this, Mage covers most of it. VIP tiers can run on amount spent over a calendar year and protect status for twelve months after it's earned, and tier-specific rewards give higher tiers rewards that lower tiers can't redeem. Fixed-amount rewards can have a points cost and a minimum purchase, free product rewards let members trade points for a sample or a product, and rewards apply at Shopify checkout with no code to copy. Birthday rewards can scale by tier, and points can expire based on a customer's last purchase. For a step-by-step setup, see how to create a loyalty program like Sephora's Beauty Insider.
