M·A·C Lover Rewards is the free loyalty program of M·A·C Cosmetics in the US. Members earn 1 point for every $1 spent on qualifying purchases at maccosmetics.com and in M·A·C stores, and redeem points for money off (100 points for $10) or for products from a curated list. Three tiers, Bronze Lover, Silver Lover (from $150 spent in a calendar year) and Gold Lover (from $500), add birthday gifts, early access and, at Gold, free 2-day shipping. Points and spend reset to zero every 1 January.
Last checked against M·A·C's Lover Rewards page, FAQs, Terms and Conditions (effective 12 August 2026) and offer details, all as of 24 October 2026, US store.

How to join M·A·C Lover Rewards
Joining is free. Sign up on maccosmetics.com with your full name, zip code, email address and a password, or with an Artist in a M·A·C store. A birthday (day and month) is optional, but you need it on file to get a birthday gift. Enrolling subscribes you to M·A·C marketing emails, which you can unsubscribe from. Everyone starts as a Bronze Lover. Members must be legal US residents and at least 18, and M·A·C PRO members and employees can't join.
New members get 15% off with the code WELCOME15 at checkout. The FAQ describes the same welcome offer as 15% off your first eligible purchase in a participating location, and the terms say it can't be combined with a points-for-dollars-off reward.
How you earn M·A·C Lover Rewards points
| Way to earn | Points |
|---|---|
| Qualifying purchase, signed in online or with your registered email in store | 1 per $1 |
| Purchases in your birthday month, Silver Lover | 2x |
| Purchases in your birthday month, Gold Lover | 3x |
| Special promotional occasions | Bonus points, amounts not published |
Qualifying purchases are regular-priced merchandise and services. Gift cards, sales tax, state fees, shipping and delivery charges, Viva Glam and other charity products, value sets and select premium products and services don't earn, and neither do purchases at department stores or airports.
Points are pending until your order ships, and the FAQ says purchases can take up to 7 days to post. Returns and cancellations take the points back, and can undo a tier upgrade. The terms give you 45 days to report a purchase that wasn't credited. The FAQ and terms mention "other Program actions", but none is listed, so purchases are the only published way to earn.
What M·A·C Lover Rewards points are worth
The terms set the dollars-off rate: 100 points for $10 off a purchase of $30 or more, or 200 points for $20 off a purchase of $50 or more. That is 10 cents a point. Because members earn 1 point per $1, spending $100 earns enough for $10 off, so the base return is 10% of qualifying spend (our arithmetic). You can use these rewards no more than five times in a calendar year, one per order, so the dollars-off route tops out at $100 off (five $20 rewards for 1,000 points).
The product rewards are priced in points, not dollars, so their value varies. Using M·A·C's US list prices on 24 October 2026 for the size shown on each reward, our arithmetic gives:
| Reward | Points | US list price | Cents per point |
|---|---|---|---|
| $10 off ($30+ order) | 100 | $10 | 10.0 |
| $20 off ($50+ order) | 200 | $20 | 10.0 |
| M·A·Cximal Silky Matte Lipstick (full size) | 150 | $25 | 16.7 |
| M·A·Cximal Silky Matte Lipstick / Mini MAC | 150 | $16 | 10.7 |
| Lipglass Clear (0.24 fl oz) | 150 | $16 | 10.7 |
| Fix+ (1 fl oz) | 200 | $18 | 9.0 |
| Glow Play Tendertalk Lip Balm | 300 | $26 | 8.7 |
| Turquatic Fragrance (0.2 fl oz) | 300 | $26 | 8.7 |
| Lip Pencil | 300 | $25 | 8.3 |
| Hyper Real Serumizer (1 fl oz) | 500 | $65 | 13.0 |
| Connect In Colour Eye Shadow Palette: Embedded in Burgundy | 500 | $35 | 7.0 |
The catalogue is split into three groups by points balance (0 to 199, 200 to 499 and 500 to 999) and held 12 rewards on 24 October 2026. The full-size lipstick costs the same 150 points as the $16 mini, which makes it the best value on the list, and the palette is the weakest at 7 cents.
How to redeem points
Online, sign in, find your rewards in your account and redeem when you make a qualifying purchase on maccosmetics.com. You can redeem one reward or offer per transaction. The $10 and $20 rewards are applied with a code (LOVER10010OFF and LOVER20020OFF), and the points come off your balance when the order is placed.
In store, give the Artist your registered email. You can redeem as many rewards as your points cover, with one of each product, and you don't need to buy anything. Points can't be redeemed at department stores or airport locations and can't be exchanged for cash.
Dollars-off rewards exclude gift cards, value kits, Viva Glam, new product launches, select limited editions and makeup services, and they can't be combined with another offer, discount or reward. Points aren't refunded if you return something bought with one.
Time-sensitive: the terms carry a system upgrade notice for August to October 2026, during which members can't redeem points or the birthday gift in store and don't get 2x or 3x birthday points on in-store purchases. Online earning and redemption are unaffected. The notice was still in the terms on 24 October 2026.
Bronze, Silver and Gold Lover tiers
| Tier | Qualifying spend | Perks |
|---|---|---|
| Bronze Lover | Join | 15% welcome offer, seasonal offers, exclusive sales, point redemption for products and dollars off |
| Silver Lover | $150 to $499 in a calendar year | Bronze perks, 2x points in your birthday month, an exclusive birthday gift (a gift bag of best-sellers), early access to select collections and collaborations, pre-launch product trials mailed to you |
| Gold Lover | $500+ in a calendar year | Silver perks, 3x points in your birthday month, free 2-day shipping, exclusive event invites |
M·A·C's pages don't fully agree on a few perks:
- Birthday points. The benefits grid shows the birthday bonus for Silver and Gold only, as 2x. The FAQ says Gold gets 3x, and that Bronze gets double points too. The offer details give Silver 2x and Gold 3x. The table above uses 2x for Silver and 3x for Gold.
- Event invites. The benefits grid ticks invite-only events for Silver and Gold. The FAQ lists exclusive event invites under Gold only.
- Gold shipping. The FAQ adds that free 2-day shipping needs a $50 minimum purchase and is limited to 10 times per calendar year.
How tiers are earned and kept
Tiers follow spend, not points. In the year you join, spend counts from your first qualifying purchase after enrolling to 31 December. After that it's the January to December calendar year. Status holds for the year you qualify and the full year after. A member who reaches Silver in their first year stays Silver through their second year, and drops back to Bronze in January if they spend less than $150 in that second year. A return that takes you under a threshold can also lower your tier.
Do M·A·C Lover Rewards points expire?
Points reset every year. On 1 January your points and spend go back to zero, and rewards you haven't redeemed by 31 December expire. Your tier status is held separately, as above. Membership itself lapses if you haven't redeemed or made a purchase in 24 months, and you can reactivate it by logging in. If a membership is terminated or expires, any points, rewards and benefits go with it.
What M·A·C doesn't publish
- What the birthday gift contains or is worth, beyond "a gift bag of best-sellers".
- When bonus-points occasions run, or how large they are.
- How often pre-launch trials and early access happen, or which launches they cover.
- Any way to earn points other than purchases.
- The full reward catalogue, or how often it changes.
- When the in-store upgrade period ends, beyond "August 2026 to October 2026".
- A "last updated" date on the program page. The FAQ and terms are dated 12 August 2026.
The fine print
- M·A·C can change, restrict or end the program at any time, with at least 30 days' email and banner notice for changes that hurt the value of what you've already earned.
- Points and rewards have no cash value and can't be transferred.
- Purchases at department stores, airports and M·A·C stores in Massachusetts don't count.
- Disputes go to individual arbitration under New York law, and the liability cap is $100.
What stands out about M·A·C Lover Rewards
The first reward is cheap to reach. At 100 points for $10, a member gets a reward after $100 of spend, which is a few orders for a brand with many products in the $16 to $35 range.
Product rewards pay out more than cash. Dollars-off is fixed at 10 cents a point, while product rewards range from 7 to 17 cents. Pricing a $25 full-size lipstick at the same 150 points as a $16 mini rewards members who compare.
The year is the unit. Points and spend reset on 1 January, and tiers run on calendar-year spend. That gives members a clear target each year and pushes redemption into the holiday months, when points must be used by 31 December.
Status outlasts the reset. A $150 year buys two years of Silver, which softens the January reset for steady spenders.
What members should know going in:
- Points reset every January. Anything unspent by 31 December is gone, so the points are best used within the year.
- Perks differ between pages. The birthday multiple, Bronze birthday points and who gets event invites are stated differently on the grid, the FAQ and the offer details. An older block of copy on the offer details page also still calls the levels Lover, Devoted and Obsessed.
- In-store redemption is paused during the August to October 2026 upgrade.
Is M·A·C Lover Rewards worth joining?
For anyone who buys M·A·C even a couple of times a year, yes: it's free, the welcome code gives 15% off, and $100 of spend earns $10 off. An occasional buyer should redeem before 31 December, because points don't carry over. A regular buyer who reaches $150 a year gets birthday points, a gift and early access, and $500 a year adds free 2-day shipping and event invites. Someone who buys M·A·C mainly at department stores or airports earns nothing there, so the program is of little use to them.
What Shopify brands can learn from M·A·C Lover Rewards
M·A·C Lover Rewards pairs a simple points rate with product rewards and spend tiers, and Shopify brands can borrow most of it:
- Say what a point is worth. 100 points for $10 with a minimum order is easy to explain and to model. In Mage a fixed-amount reward has a points cost and a minimum purchase, and flexible rewards let customers slide points against a value range.
- Mix dollars off with product rewards. Product rewards in the 150 to 500 point range give members something to aim for and a trial of your range. Mage supports free product rewards through a unique discount code, with an optional one-click add to cart.
- Run tiers on a calendar year, and hold status. Counting January to December and holding status through the next year suits members who spend steadily. Mage tier progress can run on a calendar year, a rolling year or lifetime, and status can be protected for twelve months after it's earned.
- Scale the birthday. Double points for one tier and triple for the next give the ladder a visible step. Mage supports tier-scaled birthday rewards, from double points to free products, with a Birthday Bonus that needs the customer to save their birthday.
- Recognise members in store. M·A·C identifies members by email at the till. The Mage tile on Shopify POS lets staff look up a customer, see their balance and apply a reward.
- Decide how points age. M·A·C resets points every year. Mage points expiry is off by default and can run a set number of days after points are earned or reset on each purchase, with a reminder before points drop off.
If you're building a Shopify VIP tiers program like this, Mage covers the structure above: tiers on spend, points or orders, calendar-year or rolling progress, tier retention, tier-scaled birthday rewards, early access to launches by tier, points expiry and Shopify POS support.
