True Classic Insiders Club is the paid membership of True Classic, the men's basics brand. In the US, members pay $12 a year (billed annually) and get 10% back on every order as store credit, free standard shipping on US orders, access to member-only sales and drops, priority customer service and a private community. The membership is a single plan with no points and no tiers, and the catch is the clock on the credit: store credit expires 180 days after it is earned.

How to join the Insiders Club
You join by adding the membership to your cart and checking out like any other purchase, from the Insiders Club page linked in True Classic's navigation and footer. The cart line is "True Classic Insiders Club, billed annually" at $12.00. Joining needs a True Classic account, and you are prompted to create one at sign-up if you don't have one: the account is where you see your store credit, find your referral link and manage the membership. An onboarding email follows after checkout and explains how to use each benefit.
Member benefits only apply while you are signed in with the email address you used to buy the membership. Discounts are applied automatically and visible at checkout, with no code to enter.
What the Insiders Club includes
- 10% back on every order: Members earn 10% of what they spend as store credit. How credit works and when it expires is covered below.
- Free shipping: Free standard shipping is applied automatically at checkout on US orders. True Classic's help center says free shipping for everyone else needs an order above a free-shipping threshold and doesn't give the figure on the membership page, so how much the perk saves depends on the size of your orders.
- Member-only sales and drops: The membership includes access to exclusive sales and deals.
- Priority customer service: Members get priority support.
- A private community: Members share fit advice and first looks with each other.
- Surprise cash and gifts: True Classic lists occasional surprises for members but doesn't say what they are or how often they arrive.
- Retail stores: Member discounts and free shipping can be used on the website and in True Classic's retail stores.
Our arithmetic: at 10% back, $120 of spending returns $12 in store credit, the price of the membership ($12 divided by 0.10). True Classic's own worked example is a $124 order that returns $12.40. Free shipping reduces the break-even further for anyone who would otherwise pay for shipping.
How store credit works
The reward is a flat 10% on every order, paid as store credit rather than points or a discount code. There is no rate that grows with spending, because the membership has no tiers. The credit sits in your True Classic account and is used on later orders.
Credit has a limit: store credit expires 180 days after you earn it. For a brand whose customers rebuy basics every few months, that is a long enough window to be useful, and short enough to prompt the next order.
Renewal, cancellation and refunds
The fee is annual, and the membership renews every year until you cancel. You can turn off auto-renewal at any time in your account portal or by contacting True Classic support. There are no termination fees or hidden costs, and the membership stays active through the billing period you have paid for. Cancelling doesn't refund or credit the membership cost: all membership purchases are final and can't be returned or refunded. You can update your payment method at any time in the account portal.
True Classic doesn't support pausing or skipping a membership. You cancel and rejoin whenever you like.
Two details are only in the terms. If every payment method on file is declined at renewal, you must provide a new one promptly or the membership is canceled, and a successful late charge keeps the original renewal date. If True Classic ends a membership itself, it gives a prorated refund for the full months remaining, except where the termination follows a breach of the terms, fraud or misuse. The terms also say True Classic may change the membership terms at its discretion.
What True Classic doesn't publish
- What counts toward the 10%. True Classic says "every order" but doesn't say whether credit is calculated before or after tax, shipping, discount codes or store credit applied to the order.
- When credit arrives. True Classic doesn't say how long after an order the credit appears, or what happens to credit earned on an order that is later returned.
- What the surprises are. The "surprise cash and gifts" aren't described.
- How many members the Insiders Club has.
What stands out about the Insiders Club
The fee is small enough to stop being a decision. At $12 a year, the membership is priced so that one ordinary order can earn it back. True Classic leads with a payback argument ("Membership that pays for itself") and a worked $124 example rather than with perks, which suits a fee a shopper can earn back after one order.
Credit on every order rewards the behaviour the brand wants. Basics are bought in packs and rebought as they wear out. A flat 10% back on every order, with a 180 day window, gives a member a reason to place the next order instead of shopping elsewhere, and the 180 day limit keeps the credit tied to a near-term order.
The perks are mostly access and service, not product. Shipping, early sales, priority support and a community are cheap to give and valuable to a regular customer. The only perk that depends on spend is the credit, so the value a member gets scales with how much they buy.
What members should know going in:
- It renews automatically at the annual price. You will be charged again each year unless you cancel in the account portal first, and the fee is not refundable.
- Credit lasts 180 days. Members who buy only once or twice a year will lose some of the credit they earn.
- You need to be signed in. Discounts only apply while you are signed in with your membership email, so guest checkout misses the benefits.
Is the Insiders Club worth joining?
For anyone planning more than one order a year, probably yes. At $12 the fee is repaid by credit after $120 of spending, and free shipping can cover part of it sooner. Regular buyers who restock basics every few months will use most of their credit and get free shipping on every order. Occasional buyers who order once or twice a year should check the 180 day expiry before joining, because credit earned on a first order may lapse before the next one. A shopper who buys once and doesn't come back gets little from the membership beyond shipping, and the fee is not refundable.
What Shopify brands can learn from the Insiders Club
The Insiders Club is a paid membership priced as an easy yes, and several of its mechanics scale to a Shopify brand.
- Price the fee below one order's reward. A $12 fee against 10% back means one ordinary order can repay it, so joining is a small decision. A brand can set the fee near what a typical order's reward would be and let repeat orders carry the value.
- Pay the reward as store credit. Credit can only be spent in the store, so it pulls the member back for another order. A flat percentage is easy to explain on the page.
- Match the credit window to the reorder cycle. A 180 day expiry fits a brand where customers rebuy within months. A brand with a longer cycle should set a longer window and show the expiry in the account and in an email before the credit lapses.
- Make the perks automatic. Discounts and free shipping apply at checkout without a code as long as the member is signed in. The member should never have to remember a code.
- Put the cancellation terms next to the price. "Billed annually. Cancel anytime." sits beside the $12, so a shopper knows what they are agreeing to before they pay.
If you're building a paid membership program on Shopify, Mage's Memberships feature covers recurring billing monthly, quarterly or annual, a separate price for each tier, a trial or promotional rate before the standard price, automatic renewals, and self-service from the customer's account to view perks, update a payment method, switch billing cycle or cancel. Perks can include free shipping, a welcome discount, member-only codes, a first look at launches and sales, priority support, a one-off joining bonus and members-only cashback. Cashback pays store credit or a discount code after a qualifying order, with an approval delay, credit expiry days and clawback on refunds. Every member is tagged in Shopify automatically, so discounts and free shipping can apply at checkout. Memberships is an Enterprise module.
